Commeo is the first manufacturer in the world to present a stationary battery storage system made in Germany that features pouch cell technology, and which guarantees the highest levels of safety at the component and system level with performance level d in accordance with the Machinery Directive. This enables, for example, the direct, risk-free integration of battery storage blocks into production lines outside secured battery rooms. This maximum level of protection
is supplemented by our in-house flame filter in the battery module itself, which prevents an outbreak of flames in the extremely improbable event of a so-called thermal runaway. Because of this unique concept, subsequent damage to other modules in the storage system cannot occur. Nor can any potential damage to the surrounding production systems occur either.
Many more advantages
The first presentation of the development partnership with XALT Energy also offers a lot more advantages: for example, the Wallenhorst specialists are one of the few manufacturers of stationary storage systems to guarantee 10,000 cycles with lithium nickel manganese cobalt oxide cells (NMC). The choice of cell chemistry makes the systems particularly inexpensive and, at the same time, extremely variable. Scalable in steps from 4.4 kilowatt hours, the Commeo pouch storage systems offer a power density of 128.17 kW/m³ and a high charging and discharging rate of 1.8C and 2.3C respectively.
Two modular stages
The new Commeo energy storage blocks esbL44E are available in two modular stages (with a system voltage of approx. 600 V with up to twelve modules in an 800 mm-wide switching cabinet, and with approx. 750 V with up to 15 modules in a 1000 mm-wide switching cabinet). Their power ranges from 50 kilowatts to several megawatts, and easily enables applications requiring several full cycles per day. They therefore even fulfil the highest industrial requirements and, like every Commeo product, are compatible with the VX25 cabinet system made by Rittal.
“This raises battery storage technology to a new level and eliminates the existing limits to deployment in highly sensitive production areas,” explains Michael Schnakenberg, Managing Director of Commeo GmbH.
